I AM Gifted

1 Peter 4:10-11 NLT God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.

It hurts my ears when I hear anyone say that they are not smart enough, or skilled enough or talented enough to do the things they dream of.  Even for myself, I ask God everyday for faith to always believe in God to be the power behing any vision. I know that when I utter any false truth about myself, I hurt myself.  I cut off all opportunities to do anything great.  Just by a misguided thought.
I challenge you for the next 24 hours try this is:  Eliminate the words “I Can’t’ and “I’m not” from your thoughts and words.

When I think of all the gifted and talented people in this world who have settled for the middle class safe first world dream.  It makes me sad, because those people are not in what seems like any major danger.  But they are frozen in effectiveness.  Just like those people in the matrix, living in a programmed dull life without ever doing anything of impact.  And if that’s not a slow death, I don’t know what is. That’s not worthy of the life that Jesus laid down for us.

Don’t waste another day or moment living settling for an average life.

I see you! God has gifted you!

Some of us already know what those gifts are, and some haven’t even begun to scratch the surface.
Everyone has a gift.

God makes it pretty clear: Use those gifts to serve one another.

Use those gifts as if God was acting through you.
Do it with all of the strength and energy that God supplies.
Do God’s supplies ever run out?  I don’t think so!
I know that when I am God’s conduit to do his work, I don’t feel tired. I get more and more pumped up.
I feel like an 18 year old young buck again!. Ready to take over the world!  That’s the place I want to be in every day of my life.
Can you tell I am a morning person?
God needs night people also!  People who get on their knees and battle for souls all night long.

And that serving of others has one purpose:  To Bring Glory to God through Jesus.

Yes, it’s nice to hear the finely tuned sports athlete who’s gift is to deliver bone crushing tackles on the gridiron in a post victory interview to give all the Glory to God.  It makes an impact for how God wants to use that person.
We have the opportunity to Give Glory to God in your amazing giftedness.

You have an amazing gift that when developed and perfected through the power of the Holy Spirit, will allow you to be one of the best of the best!  Do you believe that?
You have an inner genius that God has made a part of your soul fiber that is waiting to be used by the Creator!

Pray and ask God to show you what you are gifted in
Ask your close brothers and sisters in Christ: What am I gifted in?

Take an online test!
Then ask God to put you in situations to use them, and exercise and fine tune them!
Then point your hands to the heaven and give all the Glory to God!
IAM Gifted
IAM a Servant
IAM Supplied by God’s unlimited Power
IAM a Reflection of God’s Glory

A blind surfer, saying he believes…

I want to live this live unsafe, unsure, but not afraid
What I want is to give all I got somehow
Giving up letting go of control right now‘Cause I’m already out here, blind but I can see
I see the way You’re moving
God how I believe that
I can push back the mountains, can stand on the waves
I can see through the darkness, I’ll hold up the flame
Take me to the ocean I want to go deeper
I’m not afraid no, I’m a believer

And so I lose this life to find my way and come alive
They can try to deny what’s inside of me
But there is more, can’t ignore all the things unseen

Oh I believe I can walk on water with You, Lord
When I walk through the valley of the shadows
When I’m trapped in the middle of the battle
I will trust in You
‘Cause trouble comes, but you never let it take me
I hold fast ‘cause I know that You will save me
I will trust in You, I will trust in You

Oh here I stand all alone waiting on you, Lord
Waiting on You

IAM God’s Property

Romans 8:1-2 NLT So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

If you have submitted to Jesus and made a decision to let him be the Lord of your life,  then you belong to him.

And that was the first step: God’s life giving Spirit has broken the chains of sin inside of us

The father of lies wants to condemn you and attack you at your wounds.  When we allow the power of sin and lies to take a hold in our heart, that’s a pathway to death. And in the past when were not healed and living in death, that was the normal terrible cycle of lies, sin and bondage. Those lies are powerless, because of the Spirit that lives inside of us.

Let that Spirit search through you and heal you in all the deep places.
Are you willing to allow God to heal you?
I hope your identity is not in the wounded person of the past.
Let that person go!
Embrace your new identity, as a condemnation free, powerful spirit filled new creation!

There is no room for any lies in your spirit , mind, psyche and heart.

Yes!  You are healed and you are free.  So now what?

Are you happy in that?  Well, there was a purpose for your freedom.
It was to then share this amazing, healing freedom with as many people as you possibly can

JOHN 7:38 NLT Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”

First you believe, get healed and refreshed.
Then let this river of living water flow from your heart and impact everyone you meet , everyday.
Jesus has promised us, this river of living water, all we have to do is believe in him.

(You’re the hydrant!)

I get the privilege of encouraging you and myself with the statement IAM. I hope that the daily reinforcing of your amazing beautiful powerful identity will heal your soul.  I hope that the truth of God’s word will be burnt into your mind.  It’s my prayer for you to be 100% healed from any emptiness and wounds from the past that the enemy used to have a field day with the lies that condemn.  And not just by starting to live better and more light, but you will have the courage to speak the beautiful truth into others’ lives who don’t have the sweet salvation that gives us life.   Constantly focusing on IAM, IAM, IAM , is not self centered at all, when we take on the identity of our amazing creator. We are, because God is the great IAM.

First you, then the world.
I encourage, look in the mirror and proclaim the truth! Sing it in our shower, if that’s your thing!

We are God’s Property.

IAM an Heir to the Kingdom

IAM Free from the sins of the past
IAM God’s messenger of healing and freedom
IAM a River of Life showering all around me with God’s Love

Let Kirk Franklin bring it today

IAM Healed

ISAIAH 53:5 NLT But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

Before we have a relationship with Jesus, all lives are the same: rebellious, sinful and incomplete. I was desperate for change and healing. By God’s grace, I submitted my life to Jesus. As I gave my whole life to Jesus, I knew that I needed to be healed. I had wounds and scars from sin. I was angry, defensive, moody, selfish and incomplete in my ability to truly love others.

I take up my new identity in Christ today and everyday: I am healed because of Jesus’ suffering. Jesus experienced crushing pain and whipping for us. He loved us so much that he endured beatings to set us free and heal us.

My identity as a healed being is rooted in the power of Jesus’ love.
I must throw out all doubts about the ability to willingness of God to heal me.
When our thoughts betray us, we lose power in our prayers.

Friend: When you ask “Is it possible to be healed?”
The answer “Yes, I know it’s possible, because of Jesus love for me! He suffered for me!”
God loves you so much! Do you now that? Do you believe it?

Always around Christmas-time we have images of a newborn Jesus. The savior of the world was born in a barn. He was born into this world with a destiny of suffering. But that suffering was for our sins. One of the wise men’s gifts was Myrrh. Myrrh is the oil that is used to anoint a dead body before burial. It is offered as a prophecy of the way he would die. Imagine if you had a baby shower and you received a certificate for cremation or burial plot? I would throw that person out of the party!

Jesus had a destiny to save and heal the world through his suffering and death.
You have a destiny as a healed and redeemed being.

Friend! Claim the miraculous power for your deep inner healing because of Jesus.

Let’s proclaim the Truth
IAM Destined for an amazing life
IAM Loved by Jesus
IAM Cleansed from my sins
IAM Made whole, no longer incomplete
IAM Healed through Jesus’ suffering

“Jesus Paid It All”
I hear the Savior say,
Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.

Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots
and melt the heart of stone.

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
Jesus died my soul to save,
my lips shall still repeat

O Praise the one who paid my debt
And raised this life up from the dead

IAM Christ-Minded

Philippians 2:1-5 NLT Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

It may not be a real word that you can use in scrabble, but I hope you understand the word: Christ-Minded.  To have the mind of Christ.

Why would I even want the mind of Christ?  Because I have received so much comfort from his love, and healing from fellowship in the Spirit.

I am encouraged, motivated and pushed everyday to take on the mind of Christ.  That is my heart’s desire.  That my heartbeat and soul would pulse and have the same rhythm as God’s heart.

I have one mind. I have one purpose: to share the Love of Jesus with as many people as possible!

That’s it.  What’s on your brain most of the time?  What’s on your heart?

Brain, Mind, soul, heart… all of those parts are different things going on inside me. When I think about what moves me and drives me. I can’t separate any of them, into easy compartments.  It’s kind of messy, and all of those parts of our being are being transformed to be more like Jesus.  God made us that way for a special purpose!

The mind of Christ is humble.  The mind of Christ is more concerned about the needs and interests of others.
As you transform your identity with the power of proclaiming IAM. Continue to look to Jesus as the perfect example of what we strive to become.
No more hurting yourself with the statements: I’m not and I can’t.
Those days are over!

Let’s set our intention today and breath truth into our lives!
IAM Transformed by Experiencing God’s Love
IAM Comforted by God’s Love
IAM Compassionate
IAM Tender Hearted
IAM an integral part of a body that fellowships in the Spirit
IAM a representative of God’s Love to others

IAM Marvelous

Psalms 139:14 NKJV I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

There are some people that might be a little too caught up with themselves with the selfies on instagram.
But I truly believe many are not able to look in the mirror and proclaim these truths out loud.

Can you see the beauty that God has put inside of you?
Can you look into the mirror and smile?
Can you quiet the lies of the world?
Can you quiet the lies of an angry parent?
Can you shut out the lies of unsupportive family members?

Too many people are not happy with that they see in the mirror. Achievers are not happy with the results in their lives.
The sum of your life isn’t what you have produced or what’s in your bank account! That’s not our identity!  It’s not what defines you!
When our self image is poor and we have borderline self hatred, then we are left in our pity party.
We aren’t loving others, because we can’t even love ourselves. We are hating on ourselves and hating on our creator. And we are just stuck in a place, doing nothing.  Exactly where the destroyer of lives wants you to be.
That’s why we must bulletproof our minds and spirit against any lies.

When our plans to do something don’t exactly work out the way we thought… we can’t let that define us. When someone is hateful or angry towards us, we have to learn how to understand it’s the hurt and anger inside of them that makes them lash out and want to bring me down.  But it’s not a reflection on the fearfully and wonderfully made person that stands before God!
I pray that your SOUL knows this very very very well. God is our creator, he has given us his DNA, he has given us his breath.

God made you fearfully and wonderfully
God’s work to create you, and his continuous work in you daily , is MARVELOUS!
What is our true identity? Who you say you are? In your proclamations of ‘IAM!”? Are you rooted in the beauty and masterpiece of God? Then it’s not vain conceit.

Then after you have pumped yourself up in the mirror, and you can smile and stare at yourself.

Open your eyes to the beauty of God’s creation in your fellow man.
Humility is having a proper view of ourselves. Not boastful. But also not the pride of the worm.   Don’t put yourself down either.
And if that’s a bad habit for you, then it’s going to take over 21 days of mental conditioning and spiritual healing to fix it.  But it’s not impossible!
The healthy balance is right in the center of God’s truth today. Write it out! Say it loud! Fill your heart and mind with the truth.
Really!  Get a journal, and write the truth about your greatness

There’s no room for the lies of the enemy to freeze you and push you back

IAM the Bomb!
IAM all that and a bag of chips!
IAM better than sliced bread
IAM a beautiful person
IAM the beloved
IAM a Good Father
IAM a Great Mother

IAM an amazing friend

Own it!  Live it! Swim in it! Twirl around in it!

IAM Pleasing to the Holy Spirit

ROMANS 8:5-6 NLT Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

When you close your eyes and turn off all the outside noise of the world, what are the thoughts that come into your mind? Is it difficult to pray, meditate, praise or worship the Lord? Today, the word from Romans gives us encouragement on how to evict the voices in our head.

Even beyond just inviting the Holy Spirit in for a little visit, allow total domination of your life and soul. Have you submitted your life and heart to the point of allowing God into every room of your heart? Do you have closets and rooms that you are holding back from the healing work of the Holy Spirit? Let the fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to come into your life, and kill all the noise of doubts, self hate, worry and anxiety.

If you have to take the time to write down on a piece of paper, or even comment in the space below. The one area of my life that I am holding back from God:

I will pray for you, to have the courage to let go!
But if you keep hold that back, it will only lead to sin and death. You can’t ignore it.
Friend! I know you want life and peace. I hope you want bad enough to trust God’s voice and Spirit. God doesn’t want to force anything on you. Submit your heart and mind to God. Invite him in to take over and do whats best for you.
Can you trust that God has your best interest at heart?

be transformed2

Let’s transform our identity to people with the mind of Christ.
Let’s become people who hear and listen to the Holy Spirit.

Declare the truth with me today!

IAM Filled with Life
IAM at Peace
IAM Pleasing to the Holy Spirit

IAM Resolute

Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

The definition of Resolute: admirably purposeful, determined, and unwavering. Whether we are in a sprint or in a long distance run… any extra weight is not good.  Extra mental burdens that cloud our thinking or totally preoccupy our brain time.

And even if our setup is perfect, and we are ready, one loose shoelace could easy knock us to the ground.  Let’s do a pre race checkup and make sure we don’t have any loose ends that could potentially trip us up

The word calls this life a race and that imagery is good.  Because every race has a couple things

1. A planned course that we can follow.  That plan God has placed before you.  Life this life is a crazy scavenger hunt with a moving target and no ending.
2. Races have a champion:  Jesus is our champion. He lived this life, the same way as us.  He had  mom, dad, brothers, sisters, went to school.  Dealt with drama, people trying to accuse him of things he didn’t do, people gossiping about him.   And he was perfect in his life as the model for us.
3. At the end of every race, there is celebration party!  Our celebration awaits us in heaven with the other champions who have run before us. Living faithfully for God.

Jesus kept on running the race because of the joy that was awaiting him.  He went through the painful parts and shame for us.  Because he knew the outcome. And like a world record holder that will never be wiped from the books: Jesus will always be remembered

Right now, I can say, things aren’t perfect, and the path can seem cloudy. But close your eyes and imagine what it’s going to be like in heaven!

This is my favorite part of  the hymn Amazing Grace:

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

10,000 years of worshiping and enjoying heaven is going to be like the first day we got there!

Friend, fellow runner, faithful warrior:  It may be a little tough right now, but there’s a beautiful end goal!
And I don’t want to be there alone, I hope we can usher in as many across that finish line as possible.
Until my legs give out
Until the wheels fall off the cart
Until I wear our my knees in battle.
Let’s keep on running with resolution for the final goal!

IAM a witness to the life of faith.
IAM called to testify about the life of faith through Christ Jesus
And I must carry out that calling with resolution and endurance

IAM a Conqueror

ECCLESIASTES 4:9-12 NLT Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Lies that creep in on our darkest days:
You are alone!
No one would ever want to know you, if they knew what a horrible person you are!
If everyone knew your secrets, you would not be loved!
No one cares about you and your struggles!
You are a bad son, daughter, mother, father, or friend.
You don’t have anything of worth or value to offer to the group.

ALL LIES! That’s what they are.

You can’t just work out your problems by yourself.
Someone needs to hold the flashlight of truth for you, and then someone else needs to pray for you and hold you up.

Genesis 2:18 “Then the lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
Genesis 2-18 “Then the lord God said, (1)
That ain’t right! We aren’t meant to lone wolves. That’s not how we are designed.
Let’s understand the power in fellowship and supporting each other, and make sure you can’t get cornered and sneak attacked because you are alone!
It’s not good to fall alone, its real trouble. Stand back to back and CONQUER.

Conquer!  Defeat, kill it, push it back, and make sure it never comes back! The word didn’t say survive for another day of suffering!  It says conquer.
Do you want to experience victory in your life? Then you can’t do it alone
I encourage you to be more involved with your church, life groups, teams, service.
Get to know other men and women who are not perfect either.

We need fellowship like we need oxygen
We need to lean on each other for wisdom, compassion and prayer
Friend: I need you on my team
And three is better than two!  Anyone want to try sneaking up on these vigilant rhinos? Yeah, I’ll pass.

IAM a Conquerer
IAM an Essential Cord
IAM not Alone
IAM Designed to be in Fellowship

IAM A Paradox

1 Corinthians 1:18 NLT The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.

“A paradox is a statement that doesn’t seem to make sense; but when understood, makes a lot of sense. In fact, a paradox says something that couldn’t be said as well any other way.” George Durham.

More than just being quirky or eccentric, I wonder if people see my life and think that something isn’t right with that person.   In some ways, if we are really doing what God wants us to do, our actions may set off a lot of head scratching.

Many heroes of our faith did some crazy stuff at first glance.

I am not trading in my slim jeans and white belt for burlap and leather sandals.  But, am I fitting in with the ways of this world?  Or am I sticking firm to the standards of our Lord?   And why am I holding firm to those standards?  For the sake of just being right or for the purpose of living in the power of God to be able to help others see the gospel?

From 1 Corinthians 1:18 to 31  , it’s chock full of wisdom and power!

And as we look in any of the accounts of Jesus, it seemed as he was Mr. Opposite!  Eating dinner with sinners and tax collectors, hiring fisherman to be his disciples, associating and speaking to Samaritan women.

1 Cor 1-25This foolish plan of God is

Verse 25 bring some power, if you are willing to hear it: 25 This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

The greatest, smartest, coolest, most intelligent plan I could ever come up with to do anything, is absolute horse dung compared to what God has cooked up!

The world’s strongest man, is a puny wimp compared to the God’s weakness!

Am I living the paradoxical life of Christ?  I know the only way I can do that is if I continue to spend time with God, and being transformed into his image.  As more and more of my life is changed into Christlikeness, then God’s wisdom and ways start to dominate everything I do.

When I see the person asking for help on the street, do  I think, I can’t spare change for you, because I know it’s going straight to your drug and alcohol fund? Or can I start to gain the mind and heart of Christ and bring the real power for transformation of someone else’s heart by being the hand of mercy?

As a father of two independent wonderful children, I have learned one thing.  No one can change the mind of another person.  No power or strength can get a 6 year old to eat her vegetables!  Only when they decide it’s good for them.  And they see the good in that choice.

The same with the people in your life that don’t know God (yet!).  Only God can speak to their heart and mind.  We can only do our best to be a reflection of the life and love of Christ to them.  Trust me, they are watching us.  But it’s the power of the Cross that breaks through their reasoning.  And we pray and beg God to audibly speak to them and make it undeniable that He loves them and wants them!

When I am tempted to use the world’s ways to solve a problem, I ask God to give me the strength to get on my knees and pray for kingdom wisdom.  To show me the way of the cross which is most powerful.

You’re not supposed to fit into this world!  It’s ok!

IAM a Fool for God!

IAM a Paradox of Love

IAM a Messenger of the Cross

Delirious: Message of the Cross
This is the message of the Cross, that we can be free
To live in the victory, and turn from our sin
My precious Lord Jesus, with sinners You died
For there You revealed Your love and You laid down Your life

This is the message of the Cross, that we can be free
To lay all our burdens here, at the foot of the tree
The Cross was the shame of the world, but the glory of God
Oh, for Jesus You conquered sin and You gave us new life, yeah

You set me free when I came to the Cross
Poured out Your blood for I was broken and lost
There I was healed and You covered my sin
It’s there You saved me
Hey, this is the message of the Cross, oh

This is the message of the Cross, that we can be free
To hunger for heaven Lord, to hunger for Thee
The Cross is such foolishness to the perishing
Oh, but to us who are being saved yes, it is the power of God

Oh, You set us free when we come to the Cross
Poured out Your blood for we are broken and lost
Here we are healed and You cover our sin
It’s here You save us, yeah

You set me free when I come to the Cross
Poured out Your blood for I am broken and lost
Here I am healed and You cover my sin
It’s here You save me, oh yeah

This is the message of the Cross, oh yeah
Come to the Cross, oh people

Let us rejoice at the foot of the Cross
We can be free, glory to God
Let us rejoice, at the foot of the Cross
We can be free, glory to God

Oh thank You Lord, thank You Lord
You set us free, glory to God
Thank You Lord, thank You Lord
You set us free, glory to God
